Since the 1st of October, 2013 it has been employer’s responsibility to provide first aiders in the workplace. All organisations must ensure by law that they have a sufficient number of employees who possess a first-aid qualification to fulfil their first-aid needs at all times. Employers must ensure that their provision is ‘adequate and appropriate in the circumstances.

AOSH UK First Aid Qualifications have been produced in guidelines with Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Skills for Health and In line with the latest developments in practice. AOSH UK qualifications are designed to equip individuals to manage medical situations and provision in the workplace.

Current Qualifications

AOSH UK Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work : Designed for learners wishing to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to provide appropriate care and manage life threatening conditions, minor illness and injuries. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Who needs this qualification?

How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learner should expect to undertake 8 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time, excluding breaks of 6 hours typically over 1 day.

Course overview
The qualification covers a range of essential emergency first aid topics including the role and responsibilities of a first aider, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, managing unconscious casualties, cardiopulmonary (CPR) and responding to incidents, such as choking or external bleeding.

Certificate validity
The Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is valid for a period of three years. After this period, individuals wishing to retain their status as emergency first aider must re-qualify.
